Hi - Wulingyuan was ok, but for me spoiled by the sheer number of people there. You can avoid the elevator and take the tram/bus and don't have to walk so far (the elevator is also ok, you don't have to stand at the window side of it, stand at the back - although the line was 40 minutes or so..) and the views from the top are good. there are lots of shortish (20 min - relatively easy) walks around, don't have to hike everywhere.

We didn't got to Honghe/Samaba - took Yuanyang as our sole terraces - no wait, we also went to Longjii Terraces, near Yangshuo, but there was more walking involved for us there (90 mins each way I think) - although you can take a truck/jeep on the main parts of it, It was pretty. These are the Dragons BackBone terraces. V pretty. We took a trip from Guilin and the hostel where we stayed, which was enough for us! https://asocialnomad.com/china/guilin-yangshuo-longsheng/

Let us know how it goes! Excited, we can't wait to get back to China :-)

Thanks a lot!! As soon as I have her elail I will post it.
Have you also been to Honghe County nl Boahua and the terraces here at Samaba, or heard about it? Worth going after Yuanyang?
Another dilemma : is it worth to fly up and down from Kunming to see Wulingyuan national park. We visited classic China in 20101 also Yuangshuo carst, now Kunming,Tonghai,Shiping,Jianshui,Yunagyang and maybe Samaba. It's a bit a short trip so wonder if 3 days Wilingyuan is a good addition to see the mountains that inspired the Chinese painters. Only thing I'm not able to hike a lot and afraid to take that elevator
Thanks a lot

You STILL can't book online for her place in Xinjie, but she runs another place in the rice fields with her husband (its where we went for lunch). This is bookable through Tripadvisor, Booking, com, Agoda.com and hostelbookers. I suggest that you try a booking that has cancellable room at the other place to get in contact with them (see the link to the Tripadvisor profile). Or, if you a phone/ want to try calling, try Address: China, Yunnan Sheng, Honghe Hanizuyizuzizhizhou, Yuanyang Xian, 胜忖乡多依树村委会普高老寨 邮政编码: 662416
Phone: +86 159 8737 4367

PS if you get to Belinda's tell her to post an email address somewhere! You're definitely not the first person to have asked this question!!
