Unfortunately, we missed our 8.30am express train after arriving at Hua Lamphong station only to be told express trains leave from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal! Ended up having to take the Ordinary train arriving 2.5 hours later. Worthwhile adding this info to the blog, to help others in the future

Hi there. There’s just one train station in Ayutthaya. It’s on the east side of the river. Some of the trains from Bangkok leave from Don Mueang, and others leave from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Station, Bangkok, which isn’t as convenient. Hope this helps.
