Hi Milos, make sure you’re using the correct Vietnam visa site. There is definitely a Vinh Xuong international land option. The correct link is https://evisa.gov.vn/ and I see Vinh Xuong as number 13 on the list. The Vietnam immigration say it IS important to have the correct entry and exit details on your visa. Hello Sarah ! I am planning to travel to Vietnam and Cambodia in a few months so I have one question. I need to enter entry and exit point in Vietnam visa and I they don’t have an option for Vinh Xuong international land and river border gate. I don’t know if exit point is that important or I can put any border and just go to this one on Mekong river ?

Hi Joanne – We’ve booked both ways – in person when we arrived in Chau Doc and also ahead of time online. Both times the boat was pretty full – the last time perhaps 3 seats left. There are two considerations to make 1) if the boat gets booked, then you’ll be waiting until the next day 2) booking online means that you can pay with a card, booking in person means a cash transaction. (there’s usually a 30,000 to 50,000 VND transaction fee per ATM withdrawal in Vietnam). I hope your son is having a great time! Sarah

I am planning chau doc to Phnom Penh by boat in March.
Is it worth booking online or can you book the day before when you arrive in Chau doc. I am happy to book with your link but want to check that is ok.
I am joining my adult son for 12 days, while he is on a big journey of the Far East.

There seems to be a contradiction about the evisa to Cambodia in your guidelines.
At the beginning of the post, under « How to Get a Cambodian Visa » you say « you CAN NOT use an evisa ».
But under « Entering Cambodia – Cambodian Border Control on the River », you say « You’ll need either details of your evisa and your passport or your passport and your money for the Cambodian visa on arrival. If you don’t have an evisa… ».
Am I misunderstanding something here? Why would you get an evisa prior to cross the border here if you can not use it to cross?

Hi Sue, the evisa isn’t valid at the border crossing on the Mekong – you can try asking (and save yourself the cash with buying a Visa on Arrival, but they don’t have the infrastructure to support the evisa here. However, don’t worry, you’ll be able to buy one – per the post US$30 cash. All boats still stop at the Vietnam border, and then motor up a little further to the Cambodia entry, then you’ll motor on up to Phnom Penh. Let me know how you get on!

I am going on the Mekong river with Viking cruises and really struggling with the Cambodia visa. The mail in option is temporarily suspended, so it says to do an evisa, which I did, but the options for ports were mostly airports, so I put Bavet. I did get my evisa, but will that work? Any help would be most appreciated.
