I would head into the city, and be closer to the bus station rather than staying out at the airport, there’s more places to eat etc, and you don’t have the hassle of getting into the city first thing in the morning. Depends on your budget. We stayed at the Posada Trianon – its a 25 minute walk to the bus station (not difficult and totally felt safe doing it). Pop open the map I’ve included in the article and have a look at options on booking.com.

The only flight we can get from Cancun Mexico is on Valaris, which lands us in San Jose Costa Rica at 3:45 PM. We will need to stay in San Jose Costa Rica one night before we take the bus to Puerto Viejo the next day. Please, if you would, recommend a hotel near San Jose airport and also near the bus stop. We will be walking. Thank you.
