I’ve got all the details of every way to make the journey – from the easiest, private transfers to taxis, budget-friendly louages (shared minivan), public buses, and the train (which requires going into central Tunis first). I’ll detail the typical times, costs, and where you can access each form of transport. Here’s my guide on going from Tunis Airport to Hammamet and back again.

Here’s a quick overview before I go through the details. The transfer always comes out best for speed and lack of stress. It’s particularly useful if you’re landing late. There are taxis are the airport 24 hours a day, but make sure you get the meter turned on or agree on a fare before you set off. Understand also if there are extra fees for luggage and more than two passengers.
BEST WAY TO TRAVEL
Get door to door air conditioned comfort, get to your flight on time, sightsee along the way. This is the easiest way to for from Tunis Airport to Hammamet.
Where is Hammamet?
Hammamet is located on Tunisia’s northeast coast in the Nabeul Governorate, which curves around the Gulf of Hammamet on the Cap Bon peninsula. It’s about 70 kilometers (43 miles) southeast of Tunis–Carthage International Airport via the A1. The resort area spreads along Hammamet Nord and Yasmine Hammamet, so your travel time will vary both by where your hotel is and the traffic—plan on a minimum of 60–90 minutes from door to door.

How to Go from Tunis Airport to Hammamet
There are six workable options from Tunis Airport (TUN) to Hammamet. The transfer is the fastest, fixed price, and really door-to-door. Taxis are available 24/7 and are fine if you confirm the meter or a firm fare before leaving. The cheapest option is to get into central Tunis (my guide on going from the airport to Tunis, including the cheap local bus, is here) and take a louage (shared minivan). You can also take an intercity bus via the city, but schedules and luggage space vary. For the train, you’ll also need to get into the Tunis Ville station first and get a taxi from Hammamet station. If you’re renting a car and self-driving, then the A1 is straightforward in daylight and perfect if you’re continuing a trip through Tunisia.
There’s more on the different forms of transport in Tunisia in my guide here.

Prebooked Transfer from Tunis Airport to Hammamet
A private transfer is best for zero faff. You can book online before you fly, and your driver will be waiting in the arrivals hall with a name sign, tracking your flight, and will take you straight to your hotel in Hammamet. If you’re going direct, then the door-to-door journey takes about 60–90 minutes, depending on traffic and where you’re staying, although it’s usually closer to 60–75 minutes outside rush hour.

Your rate is fixed up front, and our partner, Daytrip, offers a 24/7 service, air-conditioned sedans or minibuses. You’ll typically get WhatsApp contact details to easily coordinate pickup. There’s a great option with Daytrip to get more out of your journey by adding in sightseeing stops along the way – from Carthage, to Uthina, or others. Check out the options here. You leave your bags safely in the car, sightsee for the time you decide, and then continue on your way. Perfect for fitting more into your trip.
Prepaying by card makes it easier to avoid lines for the ATM at the airport, although you can also opt to pay cash if you prefer. If you’re arriving late, have bulky luggage, or are traveling with kids, this is the smoothest way to start your trip. You can book a private transfer or see more transfer options.
Tunis Airport to Hammamet Taxi
You can’t get a set rate taxi at the airport to go to Hammamet; the rates are metered, and the cost is going to depend on traffic holdups, where your hotel is, how many pieces of luggage you have, and what time of day you want to travel.
You’ll pay an average of 50 TND in a taxi from Tunis to Hammamet during the day, but remember, if you travel at night (after 21:00 until 05:00), then the rates go up, and it’s more like 75 TND.

You CAN’T use Bolt in Tunisia, the Government closed them down in May 2025.
You’ll need to pay in TND (dinars), so if you don’t have cash, it’s best to prebook a transfer and pay ahead of time online. Read my guide to Tunisian currency and cash here.
Taking a Bus from Tunis Airport to Hammamet
You have two options for a bus to Hammamet from Tunis Airport. First, the easy option is the direct bus, run by STRGN (the National Bus line). It runs just once a day, at 13:30, and takes about 80 minutes.
You can buy tickets from the kiosk in the airport, or the driver in cash. Tickets are 30 TND, payable in cash only. There’s no option to buy tickets online for this bus at this time. That might change, so check out the rather old-fashioned (Adobe Flash, really??) site here.

The bus stops right outside arrivals, either buy the ticket and head outside, or head straight there and wait by the STRGN sign.
The second option is to take the city bus (details here) to Tunis, and then get a bus from there to Hammamet. Timetables vary by season, so, again, consult the timetable from STRGN here.
Tunis Airport to Hammamet Train
This is the cheap-as-chips option, but there are downsides. First, there’s no prebooking online for your ticket, second, you need to get to the train station, and third, you need to get from Hammamet train station to your hotel. If you’re ok with all those issuettes, then here we go…
There’s no train station at the airport, so you’ll need to go into the city. Here are the options for getting into the city. (The cheapest way is the 635 or 35 bus to the Tunis Marine Bus station, then get the line 4 train to Place de Barcelone, then you need to get to Tunis Ville for the SNCFT train to Hammamet.
I mentioned it’s cheap. The bus will cost you 1 TND, and the Line 4 train 3 TND, and then the cheapest train ticket from Tunis to Hammamet is 6 TND. You’ll need a taxi to get to your hotel in Hammamet as well.
Tunis Airport to Hammamet Louage (Shared Minivan)
This is another cheap option, and it’s quicker than the bus from the city or the train. You’ll need to get to the Bab Alioua louage station from the airport. Tunisia’s louages are shared minibuses that leave when full, and they’re cheap. If you’ve got a lot of luggage, this is NOT a good option as there’s not much space and you’ll potentially end up paying extra for it.
Your louage will arrive at either the Baraket Essahel area or the main Gare Routière, and you’ll need to take a taxi from there to your hotel.
Self-Drive from Tunis Airport to Hammamet
If you’re picking up a rental car from the airport (check rates here), then just take the A1 south. It’s about 70 kilometers ( 43 miles), and the route is mostly on the motorway. There are tolls on the way down, and you’ll need TND to pay for them.
Tips for Traveling from Tunis Airport to Hammamet
If you’re using public transport, then you’ll need cash in Tunisian dinars. Taxis also tend to be cash only.
The quickest way to get from Tunis Airport to Hammamet
A private transfer is the quickest way to go. You’ll be met at arrivals, get straight onto the A1, and you’ll be in Hammamet in roughly 60–75 minutes door to door, traffic permitting. It’s definitely worth it for late arrivals or if you don’t want to juggle connections. Book now
